Dr. Tali Gavish
Graduate of Cohort 9, Mandel School for Educational Leadership Head of the Youth and Education Wing at the Israel Museum
Tali Gavish holds a Ph.D degree in Education from Tel Aviv and Ben Gurion Universities and an MA degree in Education from Tel Aviv University.
In 2009 she began serving as Head of the Youth and Education Wing at the Israel Museum. In this capacity Dr. Gavish oversees the functioning of one of the largest, and leading youth wings in the art education field in the world. The wing is responsible for all the culture education and training programs in the museum.
Dr. Gavish is in charge of 80 employees in the Youth Wing. The Wing deals with a variety of programs such as Youth and Family Exhibition Curatorship; enrichment programs for all ages; training in all four wings of the museum and a training center for educators. Dr. Gavish coordinates the fruitful external relationships of the Wing with third parties. She develops collaborations with the Israeli Education System; with education departments both in Israeli museums and in museums abroad; with local and international education and cultural organizations; museum associations in Israel and worldwide and the Israel Museum Friend Foundations in Israel and around the world.
Prior to this position, between 2005-2009, Dr. Gavish was in charge of the 'Excellence in Arts' program in the Ministry of Education. While holding this position, Dr. Gavish developed and led several programs that identified and nurtured gifted children in the various fields of art. She was in charge of art schools and their cognitive, emotional and social development activities.
In parallel, she served as Organizational and Pedagogical Initiative Advisor at Myers, JDC and at the Ministry of Education, with responsibility for planning changes and new initiatives (such as "Learning from Successes") in educational organizations including schools, municipalities, private funds and non profit organizations.
After graduating from the Mandel School for Educational Leadership in 2001, Dr. Gavish spent four years as Principal of Kfir Public School in South Tel Aviv. In that capacity she was responsible for the pedagogical, social and organizational system of the school and also for development and implementation of interdisciplinary curricula combining visual and performance arts.
She has published several articles and books on educational issues such as "Learning from Success"; "The Gifted and Talented in Arts"; "Teaching in a Heterogenic Class"; "Education, Mentoring and Teaching in Cinema – on film making and art history", and other publications.
